WHAT IS HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT)?  SHORT WORK-OUTS THAT REALLY PAY OFF!

HIIT work-outs are short training sessions in which the class member alternates between two activities, typically requiring different rates of speed and degrees of effort.  It is a type of training that involves a series of low to high intensity exercises interspersed with shorter rest periods. The high-intensity periods last for 20 seconds per exercise and are typically anaerobic exercises (short duration, high intensity drills). Each set typically has 8 exercises, with a focus on strengthening the core muscle group (obliques, abs, glutes).

A shorter recovery period of 10 seconds follows each 20 second exercise segment.  After 8 different exercises are complete, there is then a 1 minute rest period at the end of which one interval is completed.  Class members perform a varying number of intervals with a maximum of 8, dependent upon their fitness level.

Studies indicate that a HIIT workout produces a quicker increase in fitness levels and burns more calories over a short period of time than steady-state cardio but with a bonus benefit: INTERVAL TRAINING is like weight training for your heart—it strengthens your cardiovascular system, which improves your overall health.  Different lengths of work and recovery bring different benefits—and they're all good-plus you can do this workout at home without going to a gym!

CORPORATE TRAINING

Studies show that employees who can utilize time during work  for exercise or other health promoting endeavors will maintain the same level of productivity, or higher. Employees who spend 2.5 hours a week being physically active tend to be more satisfied with the quantity and quality of their work, reported increased focus and work stamina and used less sick time than employees who did not engage in physical activity.  Private instruction can be facilitated at your locale during a time convenient for you and your staff.
